Riverside Elementary School District #2 is a fast growing K-8 district located in Phoenix, Arizona. Our 867 students are served by a dedicated and committed staff who strive to instill a love of learning that our students will carry with them throughout their lives. We offer many progressive programs and educational growth opportunities to our students and encourage our parents to participate in these critical years.

We invite you to use our district Web site to learn more about our programs, our schools, and especially our successes. For information about employment with Riverside, click on our employment area, visit our School Tax Credits page to contribute to our extra-curricular programs, review the district calendar, and much more. If you have any questions or comments, we hope you’ll feel free to contact us directly.

I welcome you to the Riverside web page. There are many new and exciting changes taking place in our school district for 2008/09. We are reinventing education here at Riverside. While we are 136 years old, we are going through a rebirth and a rededication to education.

Our school will be comprised of two campuses next year. Riverside School will have our Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, and 1st grade classrooms. Kings Ridge will have our 2nd through 8th grade classrooms. This change will allow us to become much more cost effective in administration. It too opens the door for us to become a technology based school. We have purchased all new curriculum materials that include textbooks, but also we have made the commitment to purchase the software that supports the textbooks as well.

Combining the new purchases with our current technologies gives us an advantage over most schools of this size. It is our goal to meet all our student’s individual educational needs through the use of our technology. From learning English to reading advanced literature, we are equipped to develop educational plans tailored to each of our students.

There will be no summer school this summer. To accomplish the reorganization needed, we will be spending June of 2008 moving classrooms, setting up computers, hiring new staff, and developing new handbooks and policies for next year. This does not allow us to hold summer school this year, but it will be back next summer.

Our PTO is growing and wishes all parents would join. We at the district encourage you to become a member as well.

Sincerely,

Richard W. Stokes
