Riverside School District #2 is located in Phoenix, Arizona. Our district is made up of newer residential properties with nearly 1,000 students on two campuses with a third campus on the drawing board. We are very fortunate to have the advantage of commercial, university, and industrial partnerships that help support our advanced curriculum, state of the art sports facilities, year round extracurricular activities, fully funded afterschool academic tutoring programs, and integrated instructional technologies that are unavailable to many large and private schools. In essence, we are the school district of choice for the discerning parent.

Dear Riverside Elementary School District Family: 

Happy New Year! I hope that you and our students, staff, families, and business partners have been enjoying the holiday season. My best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous 2012 for each member of the R2 Family! As we move into the new year, we want to extend our congratulations to Kings Ridge Preparatory for garnering the NFL Cardinals Stadium Grant. In the months to come, we will all continue to work hard to support our students in reaching their academic goals based on high expectations and the belief that each student is capable of achieving high academic standards.

As our mission is to provide our students with a private education in a public school setting, our Strategic Plan highlights these efforts by:

1. Developing and implementing a rigorous core standards curriculum aligned to the National Standards through detailed pacing guides and scientifically supported assessment protocols;
2. Reinforcing our current culture of using student achievement data to inform instructional practice and decision making;
3. Expanding school and staff capacity to deliver effective engaging core standard instruction by requiring 70% of a teacher’s overall evaluation be tied to student achievement and formalized through the R2 Teacher Folio evaluation process;
4. Raising expectations for student achievement and increase student ownership of their learning through student led conferences and student portfolio; and
5. Expanding our 200 day instructional calendar to include before and after school tutoring and enrichment for all our students.

As always, family involvement is extremely important, and we continue to welcome parents into our schools. The invitation is always open for parents to communicate with school staff regarding any questions or concerns they may have regarding their children’s academic performance. We continue to request that parents and families talk with their children about what they are learning at school. That connection is very important for our students in instilling the value of their education.

As we move forward in 2012, we will continue to work towards school and district improvement, meaningful learning opportunities, and most importantly, success for all our students.
