Arizona Tax Credit Program
Take advantage of the Public School Tax Credit Law
Arizona tax law (ARS 43-1089.01) allows taxpayers a tax credit if they contribute to extracurricular activities in public schools. A tax credit is a dollar-for-dollar deduction in the actual tax owe (unlike a regular deduction that only allows you to subtract the contribution from your taxable income).
Who is Eligible?
This tax credit is available to all Arizona individual taxpayers, regardless of whether or not they have children in school. A married couple filing jointly can contribute a donation and receive a tax credit for any amount up to $400. Taxpayers filing single or head of household qualify for a tax credit for up to $200. (Please note that this credit can be claimed on individual tax returns. Contributions from businesses are surely welcome and are deductible, but cannot be claimed as a credit.)
What is an extra-curricular activity?
Extra-curricular activity means any optional, non-credit educational or recreational activity that supplements the education program of the school. This includes activities such as athletics, visual and performing arts, clubs, special student activity programs, NJHS, etc.
Where does the money go?
You may indicate which school program(s) you would like to support - or you can designate your money to be for the maximum allowable - you can make a difference in our schools with even $50, $76, or $100.
