Dress Code

Riverside School District No. 2 strives to maintain an environment that is safe for all students and to maintain an atmosphere that is conducive to learning and not distracting for any reason. For the 2009-2010 school year, all students will be expected to dress in the proper school uniform attire. It will be the parents’ responsibility to ensure compliance with the dress code.

  • All students must wear the designated school uniform clothing. The clothing may not be altered by slits, shredded hems, etc. The designated uniform shall be:

Boys: Khaki or Navy Blue Shorts or Pants. No non-school logos or brand names on the collared shirt. The shirt must be “polo” style, collared dress shirt in either White, Red, or Navy Blue. Crew T-shirts are NOT allowed. Shorts must not be more than 1 or 2 inches above the knee. No non-school logos or brand names on shorts or pants.
 
Girls: All White, Red, or Navy Blue blouse, “polo” style collared shirt with plain White, Red, or Navy Blue collar, no non-school logos or brand names on the blouse or shirt. Crew T-shirts are NOT allowed. Navy Blue pants, shorts, skirts, skorts, or jumpers are to be worn. Shorts, skirts, and skorts must not be more than 1 or 2 inches above the knee. No non-school logos or brand names on shorts, skirts, skorts, or jumpers.

  • Baggy or oversized shirts, blouses, pants, shorts, skirts, and skorts are not acceptable and are therefore prohibited. Uniforms may not be more than one size larger.
  • Belts may not be more than one size larger. Belt buckles may not have any logos, initials, etc.
  • Shirts and blouses must be tucked in at all times. Shirts must be long enough to be tucked in for the entire day.
  • Undergarments may not be visible at any time.
  • For safety reasons, students must not wear hats, bandanas, sunglasses, hair nets, or big wide shoelaces. Gentlemen are not to wear earrings of any kind for safety reasons. Ladies may not wear loop or oversized earrings as injury may occur during recess or physical fitness.
  • For safety reasons, students must wear closed-toed shoes and closed-heeled shoes. Thongs, slippers, open-toed sandals, high heels, and bare feet are not allowed. White or dark colored socks or tights may be worn during inclement weather. Jackets, sweaters, and sweatshirts must be navy blue in color and not possess any non-school logos that may be construed as gang affiliation.
  • Excessive jewelry or any jewelry/accessories which contain vulgar, lewd, obscene, or other messages which lead to interference with school activities are not allowed. Jewelry/accessories which advocate the use of alcohol or drugs, and jewelry/accessories which make reference to or identify gangs are not allowed.
